Driveway pressure washing, stripe-free
Concrete can take real pressure. The trick is spreading it evenly, so the driveway comes out one color instead of striped.

The tool that matters
A driveway is cleaned with a surface cleaner: a round hood with a spinning bar of nozzles underneath, held at a fixed height. It's why a professional job looks even and a rented wand job often looks like a zebra. Edges, steps and the strip along the garage door get a hand wand, then the whole slab is rinsed downhill.

What comes off, and what might not
| Stain | Usual result |
|---|---|
| Green and black mildew | Comes off completely |
| Red clay tracked in from a dig | Comes off; deep set-in clay can leave a faint tint |
| Tire marks at the garage | Mostly removed with a degreaser |
| Fresh oil drips | Lightened a lot with pre-treatment |
| Old oil soaked in for years | Lightened, sometimes not erased |
| Rust from fertilizer or irrigation | Needs a separate rust treatment |
Sloped driveways
A lot of Knoxville driveways climb. Washing goes from the top down so the dirty water never runs back over clean concrete, and the rinse is aimed at the lawn or a blocked area, not the storm drain at the curb. Knox County's stormwater rules don't allow wash water carrying cleaners into the drains.

Asked about driveway washing
Still wondering about something? Call (865) 390-6589 and ask. It costs nothing to ask.
Should I seal the driveway after washing?
Sealing is optional for broom-finish concrete and common for stamped or exposed aggregate. If you want it sealed, the slab needs to dry fully first, usually a day or two in good weather.
Can you wash an asphalt driveway?
Gently, yes, to remove mildew and debris. Asphalt is softer than concrete and gets lower pressure and no surface cleaner held in one place.
Do you do the sidewalk and front walk too?
Yes, and the curb strip in front of the house. Most people add the walk to the same visit.
